Dear Friends of the Food Bank,
Your generosity makes a huge difference in the lives of many people. The Mt Si Food Bank could not be effective without the help of donors just like you. I want to make sure you know just how much your contributions have made a difference to our neighbors in need in the Upper Snoqualmie Valley.
We served 49,783 individuals in 2012 and experienced a 6% increase over 2011. We are proud to serve our neighbors with respect and dignity once a week. We see an average of 171 seniors and 300 children per week. It is our goal is to provide healthy and nutritious food options. In 2012 we distributed 873,516 pounds of food that included fresh produce and dairy.
Accomplishments over the year have been many. We started 2012 with our 1st Annual Empty Bowls & Silent Auction fundraiser. The community was invited to a simple meal of soup and bread provided by local restaurants. Each bowl was handcrafted by a Snoqualmie Valley middle school or high school art student. Guests were invited to take home their handcrafted bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. We sold out for the event, raised over $7,000.00 and look forward to the 2nd Annual Empty Bowls this February 10th. Continue reading
